Title: glow effect material (light halo around an object)
Post by: carolinebg13 on April 04, 2012, 03:49:15 PM
Dear all,

I am using IDX Renditionner version 2.  I love it, easy to use.

I have two questions:

1) is it possible, for the same material, to apply two finishes in the same time?  For example, glossy and light emitter?

2) I am trying to find a material that would actually act like a glowy effect, showing light glowing (halo) around the object.  For example, a backlit wall, how would you do that?  (I have tried to apply "light emitter" and it doesn't really shows a light halo around the object...)

Many thanks in advance,

Kind regards,

Caroline

Thinking of this in two stages would appear to be the answer but in fact the reality is, the light emitter side would wipe out the second material effect.  I would tentatively suggest a glass finish with light emitter as the closest you will get but my sketchup installation has just crashed again before I could get to find out.  I will have a look over the weekend and see what I can come up with but, play with ideas and see what you get.  Try using a component and giving it a renditioner light value and have the surfaces with different mats while editing the component.

What are you trying to achieve?  It often helps to give people the background to your target effect so people can see what you are aiming at.  Perhaps post some of your inspirations and even the model if you are really stuck.
