Floorboards.

In any render there will be one element that highlights the image.  If you constantly use the same floor covering be it carpets or boards there will be an element of repetition that will bore you if nobody else.  Try to look at flooring as one of your highlight elements and make some high quality units that can lift a render a bit higher up the scale than it might otherwise be.  In this thread I am talking irregular boards and how they can work to improve the setting for an architectural render.  Take individual board texturea and lay the onto a grid of bord sized units.  Import your single board textures and place them randomly about the 'floor'.  Once you have done this, consider whether you want to include the spaces between board 'lines' and then when you have a gap size (I use 1/32 on each boar 'edge') depress the space about the same amount into the 'floor' or depress the space box until you have a reasonable idea of the space.  Make components of your boards and repeat them across the floor of the model and you are done.  If you are only rendering inside, consider making the run of board wider than the room so you can move the board components sideways to increase the randome appearance..

A max render with bump level variation to simulate real conditions in a part worn set of floorboards.  Kevels here are between negative 4 to negative 8 randomly placed across the floorboard.  There are 20 different floorboard textures here and the one thing I might change is the depth of the gap between board lines from 1/16" to more like 1/8" to 1/4" and have a bit of variation there too.
